The government will deploy armed members of the Ansar force for ensuring the security of doctors at state-run upazila health complexes and major public hospitals, said Health Minister Sardar Sakhawat Husain on Wednesday.
Ten armed Ansar members will be deployed at each of around 500 health facilities and hospitals, he added.
The
decision has been taken in the wake of recent mob attacks on doctors at
different public hospitals, he said while speaking at an MoU signing ceremony.
The
memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between Bangladesh Medical
University (BMU) and China’s Kunming Medical University on BMU premises, in Shahbagh,
Dhaka.
The MoU was
signed in connection with the potential launch of a “China-Bangladesh Joint Surgical
Clinic” in Bangladesh.
Chinese
Ambassador Yao Wen was present at the event, among other dignitaries.
