Primary assistant teacher candidates demanded immediate
recruitment and posting at a press conference held at Dhaka University on
Tuesday.
The candidates highlighted the mental distress and financial
uncertainty caused by the delay in the final stages of the hiring process.
Representatives of the recommended candidates gathered in front
of the Central Library at 3pm to urge the government to take effective action.
Humayun Ahmed, a Dhaka University student recommended for an
assistant teacher position, read a written statement on behalf of the group.
He stated that although authorities published final results
based on merit and qualifications after a long wait, no progress has been made
regarding official appointments.
He also noted that approximately 14,000 to 15,000 candidates
and their families currently face extreme uncertainty due to the administrative
deadlock.
According to the candidates, the recruitment results were
published on 8 February 2026, with 14,384 individuals initially selected.
Despite completing all necessary formalities, including medical examinations,
more than two months have passed without any visible progress toward announcing
their respective posts.
The group confirmed they have already submitted memorandums
to the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education and the Prime Minister. Having
received no effective response, they warned of strict action if the government
fails to show visible progress within the next 10 days.
Another candidate, Debabrata Sarkar, said that the lack of
employment has placed their futures in jeopardy. "We demand the removal of
this uncertainty through quick recruitment and posting," he said.
The recruitment process began with a written examination
held on 9 January across 61 districts. A total of 69,265 candidates
participated in oral examinations before the final district-wise lists were
released in February.
