Vice-Chancellor of Gazipur Agricultural University (GAU) Prof Dr GKM Mustafizur Rahman has been honoured with the internationally recognised “Who’s Who Bangladesh 2026” award in recognition of his outstanding contributions to agriculture.
The award was formally presented on 18 April at a

Information and Broadcasting, Yasser Khan Chowdhury, attended as the chief
guest.
A total of 12 distinguished individuals were
recognised across key sectors, including agriculture, education, industry,
journalism, and literature. The event was also attended by eminent
personalities, including CEO Nazinur Rahim and Editor Lutfun Nahar Taposhi of
Who’s Who Bangladesh.
Expressing his gratitude, Mustafizur said, “This
honour is not mine alone, it is a recognition of Bangladesh’s commitment to
agricultural research and knowledge. It inspires me to continue working with
greater responsibility. I firmly believe that research-driven innovation is the
key to sustainable agriculture and environmental protection.”
A leading figure in environmental soil science in
Bangladesh, Mustafizur joined GAU in 2004 as an Associate Professor and became
a full Professor in 2008.
He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture
(1988) and Master’s in Soil Science (1993) from Bangladesh Agricultural

specialising in pesticide toxicity and soil pollution.
Internationally acclaimed for his research, he has

and King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology further underscore his
global academic standing.
Mustafizur has led numerous internationally funded
projects supported by organisations such as USDA, USAID, DANIDA and the World

management and climate change. His work continues to play a vital role in
advancing sustainable agriculture in Bangladesh.
Recognised among the world’s leading scientists, he
has consistently ranked among the top five agricultural and environmental
scientists in Bangladesh from 2019 to 2024.
Originating in the United Kingdom in 1849, Who’s Who
