The newly elected Speaker of the 13th National Parliament, Hafiz Uddin Ahmed (Bir Bikram), and Deputy Speaker Kaiser Kamal paid tribute to the martyrs of the country’s Liberation War.
They placed wreaths at the National Martyrs' Memorial in Savar at around 10:15am on Friday, expressing deep respect for the fallen heroes of the Bangladesh Liberation War.
After laying the wreaths, they observed a brief silence in honour of the martyrs and later signed the visitors’ book at the memorial.
Following the tribute, the Speaker and Deputy Speaker were scheduled to pay homage at the graves of Ziaur Rahman and Khaleda Zia at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar.
