Advance train tickets for 18 March go on sale today

Advance train tickets for travel on 18 March ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr went on sale on Sunday.

Bangladesh Railway is continuing its online ticket sales programme to facilitate smooth journeys for people returning home for the festival.

Today marks the sixth day of advance ticket sales for Eid travel. Authorities said the initiative aims to reduce travel congestion and make the holiday journey more convenient for passengers.

Ticket sales for all intercity trains in the western region began at 8:00am. Meanwhile, advance seat tickets for intercity trains operating in the eastern region are scheduled to go on sale from 2:00pm.

According to the railway’s announced schedule, tickets for 13 March were sold on 3 March, 14 March tickets on 4 March, 15 March tickets on 5 March, 16 March tickets on 6 March, and 17 March tickets on 7 March. Tickets for 19 March will be available on 9 March.

Railway officials also said ticket sales for 20, 21 and 22 March will depend on the moon sighting that determines the date of Eid.

In addition, responding to passenger demand, 25 percent standing tickets for non-AC coaches will be available at the originating station shortly before train departures.
