Two held in Dhaka with fake currency before Eid festival

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-3) busted a counterfeit currency factory in the capital's Uttara on Thursday night, arresting two members of a syndicate.

RAB conducted a raid at a flat in Sector 5 of Uttara, where the suspects printed fake notes ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr. The arrestees recently completed their Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) from Milestone School and College.

RAB officials stated that the duo moved to Dhaka from Feni for their studies. While printing counterfeit currency, they also claimed to be preparing for higher education abroad.

During the operation, the team seized fake notes worth 2.6 million Taka. RAB confirmed that the suspects became active to exploit the Eid-ul-Fitr shopping season by circulating counterfeit money in the market.
