Iran Ambassador Jalil Rahimi Jahanabadi said his country is
working to make sure that all the people living in the Middle Eastern country
remain safe and secure.
"Iran doesn’t discriminate between its citizens and expatriates of other countries when it comes to ensuring safety and security for them. We are working on it. Bangladeshi students in Iran have already been shifted to a safe city. Bangladesh embassy in Tehran is in a constant touch with our government. If it asks for any assistance, the government will act accordingly," the ambassador said while briefing reporters at his residence in the capital on Wednesday.
He expressed gratitude to the Bangladesh government, different political parties, social organisations and mass people for supporting Iran at the time of crisis.
"The Bangladesh government and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs have stood by us. We have observed how the political parties and different organisations protested the illegal strikes by the US and Israel on us and mourned the killing of our supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. I have sent the photographs and videos of protests to Iranian authorities. Our people appreciated it," he added.
Jahanabadi also reaffirmed his country’s determination to
resist the aggression with all the power it has until the enemy forces stop.
Asked about the military strength his country has to
continue the war against the US and Israel, he said, "We have enough power
to continue it till the end. We are prepared in that way with our missiles and
drones."
Speaking about Russia and China's role in helping Iran, the
ambassador said his country doesn't have any defence treaty with them.
"We have arms supply deals with Russia and China but no
defect pact yet. We don't seek military assistance from our friends. Rather we
expect they raise voice against violations of international laws and
norms."
Asked about the internal dispute in Iran over the prolonged
Islamic rule, which is accused of violating human rights and suppressing
democratic movements with excessive force, Jahanabadi said political and
ideological differences are common things in every country.
"There were political disputes in Iran which are very common thing in all the countries. The government never obstructed this until it threatened the law and order situation. Iranians have a long history of being united when any foreign power tries to invade our country. Now every citizen is united to resist imperialism," he added.
