Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal has launched the “Hifzul Quran and Quran Recitation Competition-2026” (Season-2) at Dhaka University on the occasion of Ramadan, drawing participation from more than 2,000 students across the country.
The competition was inaugurated at Hakim Chattar on
the university campus at 11:20am on Sunday (1 March).
Organisers said students registered both online and
offline to take part in the event, which they described as one of the largest
campus-based Quran competitions in recent years.
Chhatra Dal President Rakibul Islam and General
Secretary Nasir Uddin attended the inaugural ceremony.
Senior Joint General Secretary Shyamal Malum, Dhaka
University unit President Ganesh Chandra Roy and General Secretary Nahiduzzaman
Shipon were also present, along with leaders and activists from different
levels of the organisation.
According to the organisers, the competition will
take place in several stages and feature separate categories for school,
college, university and madrasa students.
The primary audition phase is being conducted in
Groups A, B and C. They have also arranged special facilities to ensure the
participation of students with special needs.
The first day’s qualifying round began at 10:30am
and continued until 4pm. The primary qualifying phase is scheduled to run over
two days, concluding on Monday (2 March).
The final round will be held at the TSC auditorium
of Dhaka University on 4 March, where organisers will distribute prizes among
the winners, General Secretary Nasir Uddin said.
Speaking at the inauguration, President Rakibul
Islam said similar competitions had been organised during the tenure of late president
Ziaur Rahman and former prime minister Khaleda Zia.
He said Chhatra Dal had taken the initiative to
continue that tradition by arranging Hifzul Quran and recitation competitions
on different campuses.
“Chhatra Dal has reached this stage overcoming many
limitations and adversities. This is the second time we have organised this
programme, following last year. Around 2,000 students have participated both
online and offline. The participation of university and college students is particularly
notable,” he said.
He expressed hope of expanding the initiative to
districts and various educational institutions across the country in the
future.
“The next Chhatra Dal will be a Chhatra Dal of
policy-based and welfare-oriented politics. We will work to coordinate
policy-based and welfare-oriented student politics,” he added.
Organisers said registration closed on the day of
the inauguration. Contestants took part in the audition round at multiple
booths set up at Hakim Chattar. The presence of students from different parts
of the country created a vibrant atmosphere on the campus on the opening day.
