In an effort to listen to the thoughts, expectations, and aspirations of young people, a unique interactive event titled “Chayer Adda” was held on Monday at the Banani DOHS playground in the capital.
Around 55 young men and women participated in the
event, which was hosted by Zaima Rahman, said a press release.
During the gathering, she engaged in direct
conversations with the participants, listened to their perspectives on building
the country’s future, and shared her own views and experiences.
Key issues discussed during the interaction included
women’s empowerment, workplace safety for women, entrepreneurship development
and the need for an investment-friendly environment, traffic congestion in
Dhaka and other major cities, as well as future employment opportunities and
related challenges.
Unlike conventional meetings or speech-based
programs, the event offered a different experience. Organised in a fair-like
setting, Zaima spent the first session seated among the participants for open
discussions.
In the final segment, instead of delivering a speech
from a fixed stage, she continued engaging with the youth while walking
alongside them.
She also shared tea and local snacks such as
chotpoti, jilapi, and jhalmuri with the participants, adding to the warmth and
informality of the gathering.
Participants responded positively to the initiative,
describing “Chayer Adda” as an effective platform for direct engagement
between leadership and young people, fostering open and meaningful dialogue.
