Miscreants harassed and threw multiple eggs at NCP Chief
Coordinator Nasiruddin Patwary when he visited a winter cake festival at
Habibullah Bahar College, Shantinagar, Dhaka on Tuesday.
This would be the second time in three days that Patwary
has been harassed by "egg throwers."
NCP Convener Nahid Islam claimed that Tuesday's attack was carried out on "instructions from Mirza Abbas, and with consent from Tarique Rahman."
Nahid said the incident was “highly regrettable,” and attempts to deny it would be even more “abhorrent.”
He alleged that BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman gives "pleasant speeches
in election campaign rallies, but in reality, attacks opponents."
“NCP will not allow BNP leaders to revive Awami League’s
fascist politics under a new garb,” Nahid warned.
NCP wants to see how the Election Commission, the college
authority and BNP high command address the incident, Nahid said. Based on
responses from these authorities, NCP will give its reply "on the street and on
the election day," Nahid said.
Ramna Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Rahat Khan said
police remained on the ground throughout the incident and tried to pacify the “agitated
people.”
