The celebrations began at the newspaper’s head office in the capital’s Bashundhara Residential Area.
The anniversary was formally observed on Friday with Bashundhara Group Director Afroza Begum cutting a cake alongside journalists and employees of the daily.

Speaking on the occasion, Editor Hasan Hafiz expressed gratitude to readers, saying the paper had drawn strength and inspiration from their continued support over the past 16 years.
He said the newspaper hoped to move forward with readers by its side in the years ahead.
Executive Editor Haider Ali said Kaler Kantho had remained committed to objectivity and responsibility despite growing challenges over time.
He added that the newspaper’s guiding inspiration came from the Chairman of Bashundhara Group, who consistently urged the editorial team to focus on people’s sufferings, corruption, and the national interest.
To mark the anniversary, two days of programmes have been planned at the Kaler Kantho head office, continuing through Sunday. Readers and well-wishers from various walks of life are expected to join the Kaler Kantho family in the celebrations.
Similar programmes have also been arranged at the newspaper’s regional offices across the country, where readers, journalists, and well-wishers are expected to participate, adding to the festive spirit marking the milestone.
Kaler Kantho first began publication on 10 January 2010, pledging a commitment to truthful and impartial journalism in Bangladesh’s media landscape.
