Hadi murder: Biker’s close associate arrested with firearm

Police arrested a close associate of a motorcyclist, who is implicated over the shooting attack on Inqilab Moncho spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi, from a residential hotel in Adabor, Dhaka on Wednesday afternoon.

A firearm was also seized in the drive.

Himon Rahman Shikder, 32, was a close friend of Alamgir, who carried the shooter Faisal Karim Masud on his motorbike, said DMP Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Talebur Rahman.

Himon was involved with Jubo League, the youth wing of banned political party Awami League, Adabor Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Ziaur Rahman told reporters.

Tipped off, officers from the Adabor Police Station arrested Himon. Later, based on the information Himon gave, police seized a foreign pistol, three live bullets, fire crackers, crude bomb-making materials and gunpowder from a house in the Baitul Aman Housing area in Adabor.

Himon’s friend Mehedi lived in the house. Operations are ongoing to detain Mehedi as well, said Md Ziaur Rahman.
