Hadi’s condition ‘extremely critical’

The physical condition of Inqilab Moncho spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi is extremely critical, according to Singapore's Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan.

Balakrishnan called Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus around 9:40pm on Wednesday and briefed him on Hadi’s medical treatment, the CA’s Press Wing said. 

Earlier, the foreign minister visited Hadi, who is undergoing treatment at Singapore General Hospital.

Later, he informed the chief adviser that “Hadi’s condition is extremely critical.”

However, Yunus urged the public to remain calm and requested them to pray for Hadi, according to the Press Wing.

One of the leaders of the July Uprising and a prospective independent candidate for the upcoming national election from Dhaka-8, Hadi was shot and critically injured on Box Culvert Road in the capital’s Paltan area on 12 December.

He sustained bullet injuries to the head and was initially taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where he underwent surgery, before being transferred to Evercare Hospital later that night.

He was admitted to Singapore General Hospital on Monday after being flown to Singapore by air ambulance for treatment.
