A road in Dhaka’s Gulshan Diplomatic Zone has been renamed “Felani Avenue” in memory of Felani Khatun, the teenage girl who was killed by the Border Security Force (BSF) along the Bangladesh-India border.

Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives Adviser Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain confirmed this information on Tuesday. 

The road stretches from Gulshan-2 to Pragati Sarani in the Dhaka North City Corporation area.

Felani was gunned down while trying to cross the border, an incident that sparked widespread outrage and concern over border violence.
