Three more deaths were reported from dengue in the past 24 hours till Tuesday morning, raising the number of fatalities from the Aedes mosquito-borne disease in Bangladesh to 401 this year.

In the 24-hour span, 421 more patients were hospitalised with viral fever, raising the total caseload to 98,705 in 2025.

Among the fatalities – one woman and two men – two were reported in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and one in Barishal division, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Of the latest cases, 64 were admitted to hospitals in Barishal division, 63 in Chattogram division, 73 in Dhaka division, 75 under Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), 72 under DSCC, 30 in Khulna division, 31 in Mymensingh division, 12 in Rajshahi division, and one in Rangpur division.

DGHS data shows that men account for 62.4% of infections so far this year, while women represent 37.6%. Among the deceased, 52.4% were men and 47.6% were women.

Currently, 1,544 patients are receiving treatment in hospitals across the country.

Dengue killed 575 people in 2024, with 1,01,214 cases recorded. The previous year saw the country’s worst outbreak on record, with 1,705 deaths and 3,21,179 hospitalisations.
