It could be “a bit difficult” for the upcoming elected
government to accept and approve the large number of reform measures undertaken
by the interim administration, said Planning Adviser Wahiduddin Mahmud on Monday.
Hopefully, the government would accept all the reforms or at
least the main themes of all the reforms, he told reporters after ECNEC meeting
at the NEC building in Agargaon.
The adviser specifically highlighted the judicial reforms.
The next government would certainly review the ordinance allowing full
independence to the Supreme Court, he said, noting that some provisions could
cause “uneasiness.”
The ordinance has significantly slashed the Law Ministry’s
powers and its control over the judiciary, he added.
