Assailants shot a man to death in Bheramara upazila of Kushtia on Friday night.

Another man was also injured in the incident, which took place in the Rayta Natunpara area around 8:30pm.

The deceased, Refajul Islam, 52, and the injured, Lalon Mandol, 46, both residents of Rayta Natunpara, were relatives.

According to local sources and police, Refajul and Lalon were shopping at a local store when a group of masked individuals opened fire on them, leaving Refajul dead on the spot.

Critically injured Lalon was first taken to Bheramara Upazila Health Complex and later shifted to Kushtia General Hospital.

Bheramara Police Station Officer-in-Charge Abdur Rouf Talukder said they were working to identify the perpetrators.
