Kuakata, the popular sea beach of the country’s southern regions, had been empty of tourists for a long time since the beginning of the rainy season. However, the sea beach has regained its pace with the advent of tourists this weekend. The city is abuzz with massive presence of tourists, thanks to the holiday and favourable weather. After a long time, people involved in tourism business have now a reason to smile.

After paying a visit to various spectacular spots in Kuakata on Friday (August 15), it was found that the spots were bustling with the presence of tourists. Small business owners including tour guides were happy with the arrival of tourists. Meanwhile, the tourist police are on high alert to ensure maximum security for the visitors.

Many tourists were seen spending their time at the beach such as swimming. In addition, there was a remarkable surge in tourists at most of the scenic spots, including Lemburban, Shutki Palli, Gangamati beach, Rakhine Palli, Ilish Park, Misripara Buddhist Temple, and the Jhaubon on the beach. Tourists were seen enjoying the natural beauty of the beach and having fun in the salty sea water.

Meanwhile, tourism-related business owners believe that due to the growing interest of domestic visitors, the implementation of government development projects, and improvements in the communication system, Kuakata will see a surge in the number of tourists even more in the future.

Rabiul Islam Manik, a tourist who came to Kuakata from Dhaka, said, “I have been to Kuakata several times before, but never visited during the rainy season. This is why I chose this time to visit, as the sea remains very rough and large waves can be seen during this monsoon.”

Masum Billah, working as a guide at a tour’s operator company said that Kuakata was quite empty at the beginning of the monsoon season. Not many tourists were able to visit the sea beach due to the adverse weatherdespite various government holidays. However, a good number of tourists arrived in Kuakata this weekend.

“70 to 80 percent of the rooms in Kuakata are booked,” he said, hoping that this rate will increase in the future.

Billal Hossen, who captures photos of tourists on the beach, said, “I work in such a profession that depends on the presence of tourists. Kuakata was quite empty from the beginning of the monsoon season. However, due to the weekly holiday, a good number of tourists arrived yesterday.”

The tourist police remain constantly engaged in their duty as the presence of tourists increases in Kuakata specially on holidays, police sources said.
