BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has described the death of a Jubodal leader in Cumilla as extrajudicial killing, saying that such type of incident again spreads fear in people’s minds.

“Fear is mounting among the people over the recurrence of extrajudicial killings during the tenure of the interim government, a practice that often occurred under the Sheikh Hasina-led administration,” he said while addressing a programme at the party’s Nayapaltan central office in Dhaka on Saturday.

Touhidur Rahman, a local Jubodal leader, was apprehended during a joint operation from his residence in Adarsha Sadar Upazila of Cumilla early on Friday morning.

Later, police brought the young man to a hospital in Cumilla late last night with injuries allegedly inflicted by the security forces.

He also urged the interim government to govern the country with utmost caution and questioned why such incident takes place under its rule.

Meanwhile, the government has ordered an urgent investigation into the death of Touhidul Islam, saying that upholding human rights in every sphere of national life is a core mission of this government.
