The Anvir Cricket Stadium at ABG Sports City is set to host the maiden edition of the Asia Cup Cricket for the Blind 2026.
Five nations—hosts Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Afghanistan—will take part in the six-day tournament, scheduled to be held from 15 to 20 November.
The host venue, Anvir Cricket Stadium at ABG Sports City, is currently making preparations for this landmark event, organized by the Bangladesh Blind Cricket Council (BBCC), an affiliate of World Blind Cricket Ltd (WBC).
Safwan Bashundhara Global (SBG) has come on board as the title sponsor while T Sports, the country’s sole sports-based television channel, will serve as the media partner.
SBG expressed pride in supporting the inaugural Blind Cricket Asia Cup in Bangladesh, voicing hope that the international event will create greater opportunities for visually impaired athletes and bring their talent and achievements to a wider audience.
The tournament will provide Bangladesh with another opportunity to showcase its sporting capabilities on the international stage.
Beyond providing blind cricketers with a platform to compete at the international level, the organizers aim to use the sport to promote friendship, equality and stronger ties among participating nations.
Hosting the competition for the first time marks a significant milestone for blind cricket in Bangladesh.
The event is also expected to strengthen camaraderie, goodwill, and sporting unity across Asia.
