The Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment has fixed the medical examination fee for Malaysia-bound workers at Tk8,000, warning authorised medical centres against charging more.
In a notification issued on Wednesday, the ministry said selected workers could undergo medical examinations at any authorised centre, none of which would be allowed to operate under a recruiting agency.
Medical examinations are scheduled to begin on Saturday following the reopening of Malaysia’s labour market to Bangladeshi workers.
Workers facing overcharging, harassment, unnecessary delays or other irregularities at medical centres have been urged to file complaints with the ministry at [email protected].
The ministry also warned workers against using brokers or middlemen to arrange medical examinations.
If a worker switches recruiting agencies, the previous agency must promptly release the medical report without raising objections or making excuses, the notification said. It also clarified that no fee is required for a MiGRAMS slip.
The ministry said it would regularly inspect medical centres and take legal action against irregularities, urging workers, recruiting agencies and medical centres to follow its guidelines to ensure a transparent and orderly recruitment process.
