Indian National Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, after the meeting of Opposition bloc INDIA, on Wednesday announced all lawmakers from the non-BJP parties will march to the Election Commission on 6 October to register its protest against the poll body chief Gyanesh Kumar.
The alliance will also hold multiple rallies across the country over, what it calls, the “vote theft”.
The opposition bloc said it would launch protests to “save democracy” after a newspaper report said the Election Commission pushed large-scale voter list changes despite two commissioners questioning the process.
Opposition parties said the lists were manipulated to benefit Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Bharatiya Janata Party.
The Election Commission of India rejects the charges and says differences are normal in any institution and all its actions were lawful.
