Police constable dies by suicide on duty

A member of the Khulna Railway Police died after shooting himself with his service firearm while on duty early Saturday.
The incident took place at the Khulna Railway District Office in the Sonadanga Residential Area (Phase 2) of the city.
The dead is Samrat Biswas, 27, son of Shailen Biswas of Kashiani upazila in Gopalganj.
Ahmed Mainul Hasan, superintendent of Khulna Railway Police, confirmed the death and said the constable had been posted as a guard at the armoury.
According to the police official, the incident occurred between 4:30am and 5am when Samrat used his issued Chinese rifle to shoot himself in the head. He was declared dead on the spot.
