Three daily sun journos win Nagad-DRU Best Reporting Award

A total of 27 journalists from various media outlets, including three from the Daily Sun, received the Nagad-DRU Best Reporting Award 2025 across multiple categories.
With these achievements, the Daily Sun has secured the top spot among all media organisations in this year’s awards.
The award-winning Daily Sun journalists are Senior Staff Correspondent Mousumi Islam, Senior Staff Correspondent Rafikul Islam and Staff Reporter Ehsanul Haque Jasim.
Of them, Mousumi won the award in the Financial Inclusion category for her report, “Small Entrepreneurs, Big Impact: The Silent Struggle of Bangladesh’s Small Businesses.”
Rafikul received the award in the Health category for his series, “Domestic Growth Strong, Export Potential Largely Untapped”, while Jasim was awarded in the Good
Governance and Corruption (Investigation) category for his report, “CADRE WITHOUT MERIT! 41 Appointed Illegally Through 30th, 31st BCS.”
Crests and prize money were distributed among all the awardees at a function held at the International Mother Language Institute in the capital on Sunday.
Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed attended the event as the chief guest, while Chairman of Nagad’s Board of Directors Kaiser Ahmed Chowdhury was a special guest.
Speaking on the occasion, the adviser said, “Journalists are the voice of the people. When they highlight urgent issues, solution can be implemented quickly.”
Congratulating the awardees, he emphasised the importance of journalistic responsibility, encouraging reporters to run investigative reports that uncover deep truths while engaging in constructive criticism.
Salehuddin also urged journalists to recognise the government’s positive efforts alongside critiques, saying, “Constructive suggestions help the government function more efficiently and foster rapid economic and social progress in Bangladesh.”
