Beximco Pharmaceuticals PLC celebrated the Bangla New Year 1433 with a focus on the rich heritage of Bangla culture, health, dietary practices, and agriculture.
The celebration, themed “Bochone Bachun’ (Live by Wisdom),” draws inspiration from the traditional Bochon of Khona.
According to historians, Khona, a learned Bengali woman believed to have lived between the 8th and 12th centuries, was renowned for her expertise in astronomy. She composed numerous verses offering guidance on agriculture, weather patterns, crop care, and everyday life.
Over time, these sayings have become deeply embedded in rural life, with many farmers still relying on Khonar Bochon in their agricultural practices.
This year’s celebration by Beximco Pharma highlighted these themes of agriculture, lifestyle, and health science.
Rabbur Reza, Chief Operating Officer of Beximco Pharmaceuticals said that Khonar Bochon are an integral part of Bengali history and culture. He noted that their relevance to health, diet, and lifestyle remains strong even today, continuing to guide generations toward healthier living.
Expressing optimism for the new year, he said that the country will be able to write new stories of hope for a healthier future.
