Nipun Roy lands in jail in violence case

A Dhaka court on Friday sent BNP central executive committee member Advocate Nipun Roy Chowdhury to jail in a case filed with Hazaribagh police station on charges of plotting subversive activities in the capital.

Metropolitan Magistrate Masud Ur Rahman passed the order after police produced her before the court on completion of her three-day remand in the case.

The court also rejected a bail plea submitted by her lawyers.

Earlier, on March 29, a Dhaka court placed Nipun Roy Chowdhury on the three-day remand after police produced her before the court seeking on a seven-day remand.

On March 28, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) members arrested Nipun from her Rayer Bazar residence in the city for her alleged involvement in torching buses in the capital’s Janapath and Malibagh intersections on March 27.
