The Indian Premier League franchises may have to think twice to pick a Bangladeshi player to their squad as The Board of Control for Cricket in India has informed them that they will not be available for the entire duration of the league this season.

Four Bangladeshi players – Shakib Al Hasan, Mustafizur Rahman, Mohammad Saifuddin and Mahmudullah made it to the final list of 292 cricketers, who are set to go under the hammer in Chennai today in the IPL 2021 player auction.

“Any (Bangladesh) players selected will be unavailable from May 19 or will leave before any other series is scheduled during the IPL window,” the BCCI wrote to the franchises on Tuesday night, reports Cricbuzz.

Bangladesh Cricket Board recently announced that Sri Lanka will tour their country in May for a three-match ODI series.

The availability of Sri Lankan players is also yet to be confirmed. Shakib is one of the eight overseas players, who has chosen to be slotted in the highest bracket of Rs 2 crores.

Mustafizur has been placed with a base price of Rs 1 crore while Mahmudullah and Saifuddin have slotted with a base price of Rs 75 lakhs and 50 lakhs respectively.
