Assistant directors of Bangladesh Bank (BB) have expressed dissatisfaction, as the Election Commission (EC) have asked them to perform duties as assistant presiding officer instead of presiding officer during the by-election in Dhaka-18 constituency slated for November 12.

Slamming the EC decision, they said assistant directors (Grade 9) of the BB discharged their duties as presiding officer in the last Dhaka City Corporation Election.

Grade-10 officials of the BB usually become assistant presiding officer while second-class officials – for example BB senior caretakers and primary schoolteacher – become polling officer.

During the election, some government bank senior principal officers (Grade 5) have been asked to do their duties as presiding officer, but earlier they were not chosen to do this job.
