Three firms to develop tech for NEIR

Three local companies will develop technology for the proposed National Equipment Identity Register (NEIR), to curb use of illegally imported mobile phones.

Bangladesh Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (BTRC) has finalised Synesis IT, Radisson Technology and Computer World for the task, BTRC senior assistant director Zakir Hossain Khan told the Daily Sun on Monday.

According to the officials, the three companies will provide services at a cost of $2.3 million.

The telecom regulator has sent a letter to the chief executive of Syesis IT to complete agreement in this regard by December 2. BTRC opened the tender process on February 18 this year.
