ACC to sue 3 CUWCSL officials in Noakhali

NOAKHALI: Anti-Corruption Commission’s (ACC) Noakhali Integrated Office recommended to file corruption cases against three officials of Companiganj Upazila Workers Cooperative Society Limited (CUWCSL) for embezzling organisation’s money.

The accused officials are — Shahid Ullah, President of the Workers Cooperative Society Limited, Kamal Uddin, General Secretary and Mominul Haque.

According to ACC’s Investigating Official, the trio sold 15 decimals of lands at Karalia beside Bashurhat-Kanirhat road owned by Companiganj Upazila Workers Cooperative Society Limited without following proper procedure and embezzled Taka 42 lakh 50 thousand by showing less sale price.

Three officials jointly sold those 15 decimals of land at the rate of Taka 14 lakh, 33 thousand three hundred and 33 per decimal to 25 buyers that worth a total of Taka Two crores and 15 lakh.

But they showed the total sale price of land Taka one crore 72 lakh and 50 thousand at the rate of Taka 11 lakh 50 thousand per decimal. Thus they embezzled Taka 42 lakh and 50 thousand.

The investigating official has submitted the probe report to ACC’s Chattogram Divisional office suggesting file corruption cases against aforementioned three workers leader under Section 409, 420, 109 of the Penal Code and Section 5 (2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1947.

Accused Md Shahid Ullah, president of the Companiganj Workers Cooperative Society Limited, claimed the allegations brought against them are false. They have all records to prove them innocents.
