2 killed in Saidpur, Gaibandha road accidents

NILPHAMARI: At least two people were killed in road accidents in Saidpur and Gaibandha on Tuesday and Monday night.  

In Saidpur, a labour was killed as a truck hit him at Niamatpur village under Saidpur upazila of the district on Tuesday. 

The deceased was identified as Faruq Hossain, 45, hailed from Fokirpara village of the upazila.

Police said the accident occurred on the Saidpur-Rangpur Highway when the truck hit Faruq, leaving him injured critically.

Faruq was admitted to Saidpur 100-bed hospital and later he died on the way to Rangpur Medical College Hospital.

Officer-in-Charge of Saidpur police station Shahjahan Pasha confirmed

the matter. Police seized the truck. A case was filed in this connection, he said.

In Gaibandha, a young man has been killed as a microbus hit him in Palashbari here.

The deceased was identified as Limon, 25, of Harinmari village in the upazila.

Police said the Gaibandha-bound microbus from Dhaka knocked Limon down in front of Shilpi Hotel on Monday night, leaving him critically injured.

He was sent to Rangpur Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday morning.

Police seized the microbus and arrested its driver, said sub-inspector Mokhlesur Rahman of Gobindaganj Highway Police Station.
