Standard laboratories are essential to ensure safe food for the people as the lack of standard laboratory affects the detection of unsafe foods, said the minister.

He asked Bangladesh Food Safety Authority chairman to make a project proposal to set up a central laboratory in the capital and some divisional areas to check adulteration in foods.

The gaps among different government organisations also affect to ensure safe food in country, he said.

Dr Shamsul Alam, member (Senior Secretary ), General Economics Division (GED), Bangladesh Planning Commission and Mohammad Mahfuzul Hoqu, Chairman of BFSA, among others, spoke on the occasion.
