Awami League (AL) acting general secretary Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif urged the party’s associate bodies whose tenure has already expired to hold councils.
Hanif, also the joint general secretary of the party, came up with the directives after emerging from a party meeting at AL President Sheikh Hasina’s political office at Dhanmondi in the capital on Tuesday. The tenure of many of the associate bodies, including Juba League and Swechchhasebak League, ended many years ago. The AL leader also hoped that the council of the party will be held on time in October.
“We will complete the grassroots council before our central council to rejuvenate the party,” he said, adding that associate bodies have to reorganise its grassroots also.
Referring to the factional clash within Bangladesh Chhatra League on Monday, Hanif said that there is nothing to be concerned about the clash.
“After the formation of the full-fledged committee of BCL, such incidents are natural.
