A cultural programme was held on the premises of Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR) on Tuesday evening.
Ranan, a cultural organisation of the university, organised the cultural soiree to mark its 10th anniversary. Members of the Ranan performed at the programme.A discussion was also held to mark the occasion. Chaired by Ranan president Dr. Tuhin Wadud, also Associate Professor of Bangla department of the university, it was attended by noted cultural personality Milon Bhattacharya, Ranpur Chambers and Commerce former president Abul Kashem, academics Prof Tofail Hossain, head of department of accounting and information systems Shahinur Rahman, cultural personality, journalist Ariful Haque Ruzu, publisher Shakil Masud and Associate Professor of Bangla department Dr. Nitya Ghosh.
Sixteen persons were also honoured at the programme, who participated in the greening campus by tree plantation activities. They are –Prime Maedical College Executive Director Dr. Akkas Ali, Human rights and Chief Executive of the Environmental Movement advocate AAM Monir Chawdhury, Rangpur engeneering Callege Chairman Md. Al Amin, Siddik Memorial school and College Chairman Md Ferdous Alam Mukul, Shabujer pothee President Shah Farid, deputy director of Agricuture And Extension Of Lalmonirhat Md Nurujjaman and Section officer of the University Mahbuba akhter.
On the other hand, six employees of the University were honoured for their self contribution in this tree plantation and greening the campus. They are—Pradip Kumar, Khaledul Islam, Shafiqul Islam, Shahjahan Shamrat, Nurnabi Mia and md Bulbul Islam.
Talking about the greening campus president of Ranan Dr. Tuhin Wadud told daily sun “At least 33 thousand trees have been planted for greening campus in the initiative of Ranan. We thanked those who helped with donation by planting, fertilizer and poles in this work.”
