PKSF provides stipends for 5,600 students

Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) has distributed more than Tk 6.72 crore stipends to 5,603 needy HSC level students to help advance their study.

Under its programme supporting fund, PKSF provided the stipend at a function on Thursday with its Chairperson Dr Qazi Kholiquzzaman Ahmad in the chair.

Among the recipients, 3,100 female students and 2503 male students including 725 from marginal population. Each students are getting Tk 12,000 as education stipend, says a PKSF release.

Cheques were handed over the CEO of PKSF’s partner NGOs across the country who will finally distribute the money among the selected students at field level.

Earlier, PKSF had invited applications from interested students through their partners NGOs. Some 6,719 applications were submitted.

Although the stipend money is being provided through crossed cheques this year, it will directly be sent to student through mobile banking channel next time, PKSF said.

In providing stipend, PKSF prioritises dalit, horizon, small ethnic groups, transgender, tea garden labourers, water gypsies, beggars, domestic help, sex workers, farmers, haor, island, char and other impoverished areas.

Since 2012, PKSF has been providing education stipend. In last eight years, it provided a total of Tk 27,02,97,000 to some 20,132 students.

PKSF Managing Director Md Abdul Karim was also present at the event.
