Awami League publicity and publication affairs secretary Hasan Mahmud said that BNP had established a reign of terror in the country’s political arena.

“People know very well who unleashed the reign of terror by hurling petrol bombs which burnt people to death,” he said in reaction to BNP’s claim that AL intends to start a reign of terror.

Hasan, also the Information Minister, said this while addressing a press conference at Awami League President Sheikh Hasina’s political office in Dhanmondi in the capital on Tuesday.

The minister recalled the arson attacks launched by BNP and Jamaat in 2013, 2014 and 2015 which killed a number of people, including pregnant women, children, students and drivers.

Talking about BNP’s acting chief Tarique Rahman, Hasan said that letters have been issued to bring him back from London.

“We have to bring back Tarique as per the directive of the apex court,” he said, adding they do not believe in politics of vengeance.

Over BNP’s fresh movement for freeing BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia from jail, Hasan said they have been talking about the movement over the last ten years.
