At present Dhaka city is facing enormous environmental crises. Huge amount of waste is generated, the management of which is one of the most alarming issues in the contemporary situation. Due to technological advancement the standard of living is improving, however resource consumption is also increasing day by day at an increasing rate. As a result, rate of waste generation is also growing in Dhaka city. Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) both have the responsibilities to collect and dispose the waste. Privately managed waste collectors collect domestic waste from house to house. The collected waste is dumped into road-side open stationary dustbins through small vehicles following informal separation. Both city corporations load these on trucks and dispose to the landfills. In this conventional system, road-side dustbins create different types of negative impact on human health and surrounding environment like emission of bad odour, chance of exposure to the pathogenic contaminants which can lead to severe public health issues. This situation can become uncontrolled and exacerbate.

Under this circumstance, a “Circulatory Dust Van” can be a smart solution to this problem. A “Circulatory Dust Van” is a smart, dynamic and compact van which has two chambers, one is for septic substances and another one is for non-septic substances. This van amasses waste from a specific zone in a certain period of time by a dynamic circulatory path in the city. There will be some selected zone or transfer station where the van can collect the waste meticulously from the entitled small vehicles which collect waste from door to door. These small vehicles have portable cover like polythene; therefore waste will have less chance of exposure to the environment. Circulatory Dust Van will have “Emergency sirens” like ambulances that can help it to commute faster from transfer station to the landfill or final disposal destination where the collected waste can convert into energy through microbial degradation.
The advantage of using this “Circulatory Dust Van” is that no fixed dustbin will be needed on those particular zones as a result there will be less human health issues and surrounding environment will remain neat and clean.
