College student among 3 killed in city road crashes

Barely three weeks into the death of university student Abrar Ahmed chowdhury in a road crash, three youths, including a college student, died in two separate road crashes in the capital on Friday.

In the first incident, a college student was crushed under the wheels of a running bus in the capital’s Demra area at noon.

The deceased was identified as Eram, 17, a student of Golam Mostafa College in Demra.

Enraged by his death, fellow students and local people took to the street and staged a demonstration blocking Demra-Rampura road.

The agitators demanded immediate arrest and trial of the killer driver.

According to Demra police, the tragic accident took place on Demra Staff Quarters-Rampura road at 12:00 o’clock as a running bus of Ramzan Paribahan hit him from behind.

Soon after the incident, police arrested the bus driver and seized the bus.

In the second incident, two youths died in a road crash on Khilgaon flyover in the capital in the afternoon. The deceased were identified as Noman, 16, and Tuhin, 17.

The duo was on a motorcycle. One of them was a biker and the other a co-rider. The road crash occurred as the biker lost control of the bike and rammed into the railing of the flyover around 4:15pm,  said sub-inspector Bachchu Mia, also In-charge of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital police outpost.

They were immediately rushed to the emergency unit of DMCH where on-duty doctors declared them dead.
