Legends of Rupganj leapfrogged Lt Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Ltd batting line up in the ongoing Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League (DPL) with their brilliant bowling performance to claim a victory of 8 wickets with 128 balls remaining in hand at Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protisthan Ground-4 in Savar on Thursday.
After winning the toss, Rupganj welcomed Sheikh Jamal to bat first and demolished their batting line up just in 141 runs.Nabil Sabad and Muktar Ali were the most successful bowlers for Rupganj as they both picked three wickets.
Nabil bowled ten overs with one maiden and gave 30 runs. Nabil picked up the first wicket for Rupganj with opener Imtiaz Hossain’s wicket. Later, he took Anustup Prabir Majumdar and Sheikh Jamal captain Nurul Hossain wickets too.
Muktar Ali, who also picked three wickets, started with another Sheikh Jamal opener Fardeen Hasan who was at 28 runs then. He also took Ziaur Rahman’s wicket before picking up Elias Sunny.
Tanbir Hayder was the most successful batsman for Sheikh Jamal who scored 35 runs before his run out.
Rupganj had their first drop with Mehedi Maruf’s wicket, who scored 12, at 32 runs during their chase and Enamul Haque provided the back throw for Sheikh Jamal.
But later, Sheikh Jamal only managed to pick one more wicket at 128 runs after 96 runs partnership between Mohammad Naim and Mominul Haque.Naim got himself out at 63 runs off 69 balls with 8 fours while Mominul left the crease with undying 60 runs consisting with 9 fours playing 71 balls.
Meanwhile, Abahani Limited claimed victory over Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club by 4 wickets with the help of opener Jahurul Islam’s 91 runs at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the capital.
Jahurul hit 10 fours and played 127 balls in making of his innings.
Mohammad Saifuddin scored 55 off 69 balls with 7 fours during their chase.
Earlier, Prime Doleshwar managed to put a 230-run target on board after losing 9 wickets in 50 overs.
Farhad Hossain was the highest run getter for Doleshwar side with his 47 runs off 60 balls hitting 4 fours and 2 sixes.
Taiber Rahman and Marshall Ayub scored 41 and 40 runs respectively.
Soumya Sarkar pocketed four wickets allowing 34 runs in his ten overs for Abahani.
Mashrafe Mortaza picked up two wickets for Abahani.
Meanwhile, Khelaghar Samaj Kallyan Samity defeated Uttara Sporting Club by 39 runs at Osmani Stadium in Fatullah.
Khelaghar posted 257 runs on board in 50-over losing four wickets, where Mahidul Hasan Ankon had a good contribution with his 77 runs off 80 balls and seven fours with one six.
Opener Shahriar Komol scored 55 runs for Khelagor side.
