Optometrists at a programme called for formulating the code of conduct for them to facilitate the development of optometry profession in the country.

They made the remark while addressing the ‘1st International Contact Lens’ workshop at Broccoli Garden Restaurant at Mohammadpur in the city on Sunday.

The speakers also highlighted the importance of contact lens, a substitute of glasses for refractive error patients and for therapeutic purpose for low vision problems such as keratoconus and Amblyopia.

Though price of contact lens is comparatively higher than glasses, the use of contact lens would bring cosmetic, therapeutic and clarity benefits for the users, they said.

Bangladesh Optometric Society (BOS) organised the programme to mark the World Optometry Day.

Prof MA Hadi Faquir, Ex-Director of National Institute of Ophthalmology and Hospital, attended the programme as the chief guest while around 70 optometrists from the country and abroad took part.
