High yield of mustard seed likely in Feni

FENI: The farmers of Feni district happy over mustard good yield, hoped bumper output this year.

According to Department of Agricultural Extension (DEA) in Feni Joyan Uddin said the correspondent BARI-9, BARI-14, BARI-15 and BARI-17 farmers were cultivated mustard with 1450 hectares of land. In Sadar upazila 890 hectares, Chhagalnaiya upazila 90 hectares, in Fulgazi upazila 62 hectares, in Parshuram upazila 75 hectares, in Daganbhuiyan Upazila 20 hectares and Sonagazi 280 hectares of land have been cultivation with the production target of 37,751 tonnes.

Its markets value worth Tk 7.25 crore. DEA source however said, 180 plot demonstration with 15 bigha of land government have intensive in to the farmers.

Pranab Chandra Majumdar, Assistant Agricultural Officer said the correspondent that mainly cropland and homestead cultivation mustard and farmer will harvest same land cultivation of Boro crops.

Abu Naium Mohammad Saifuddin said the correspondent that this year 47 plot demonstrations with 51 bigha of land in Feni sadar upazila.

Moti Miah, a grower of sadar upazila said, he has cultivation 30 hectares of mustard with technical support by local agricultural officer. At present the croplands of the district are waving with yellow color in six upazila of the district as mustard flowers have already blossomed, vast tracts of land in the district have turned into the spots scenic beauty.
