BSEC set to celebrate silver jubilee tomorrow

Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC), the regulator of the country's capital market, is set to celebrate its 25 years of journey.

To mark the milestone anniversary, the silver jubilee ceremony, the market regulator has already chalked out an elaborate programme.  Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is likely to inaugurate the programme tomorrow (Wednesday) at Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC).

The BSEC is going to celebrate the occasion amid a week-long programme which includes seminars, discussion and get together of BSEC families. The programme details were disclosed at a press conference by the market regulator on Monday at its office in the city.

BSEC executive directors Forhad Ahmed, Anwar Islam and its spokes person Md Saifur Rahman were present at the press conference.

The inauguration programme of silver jubilee will be held at the hall of fame of Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC) on Wednesday where Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will remain present.

Addressing the press conference BSEC spokesperson Saifur Rahman said that the orgnisation has now become a standard regulatory authority. The commission set off its journey in 1993.

Being the IOSCO ‘A’ Category Regulator, it has ensured regulation and good governance with utmost clarity and accountability for a stable capital market, he added.

He also said that as the key stakeholders of the commission, Dhaka Stock Exchange, Chittagong Stock Exchange and Central Depository Bangladesh Ltd (CDBL) will also celebrate the occasion.
