Outsiders will not be allowed to roam around, stay in dormitories or hold any kinds of activities on the campus of Dhaka University (DU) without prior permission.

The decision was taken at a meeting of DU Provost Committee on Thursday night, said a press release form Public Relations Office of DU on Monday.

“Students who completed their study will not be allowed to stay in dormitories. And guardians and guests of students will not be allowed either to stay without permission,” the press release added.

The DU authorities took the decision in order to prevent hardliners’ entry into the campus. In this regard, the DU will receive assistance from law enforcement agencies if necessary.

The meeting called upon students to refrain from ‘spreading rumours’.

It also decided to exchange views with active students’ organisations on the campus on a regular basis.

A seven-member inquiry committee headed by Pro-Vice Chancellor (administration) Prof Dr Mohammad Samad has also been formed at the meeting to investigate the violent incidents over the movement of quota reformation.
