A Dhaka Labour Court on Monday cleared the way for holding the election of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ).

First Labour Court Chairman Dr Shahjahan withdrew the stay order on the election following a petition filed by BFUJ Election Commissioner Alamgir Hossain.

Advocate Mabinul Islam, a counsel of Alamgir Hossain, said there is no bar in holding the BFUJ election following the court order.

Earlier in the day, the petition was filed with the labour court on behalf of the BFUJ election commissioner, seeking withdrawal of the stay order on BFUJ election.

On Thursday, the First Labour Court Chairman Dr Shahjahan issued a stay order on the BFUJ election in response to a petition filed by two journalists.

Two Journalists—-Khairul Alam and Sebika Rani—-filed a petition before the court giving objection on the voter list of the election.

The election of BFUJ was supposed to be held on July 6.
