State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid on Saturday urged the newly approved LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) companies to go slow in operations as many of them are yet to get final approval.

The minister also suggested the Petromax LPG not to go for commercial operations without having the final permission from the government. Terming the tendency to do anything in short and hasty manner a national habit, the minister said it is not acceptable and urged the companies to do their business with perfection.
Nasrul Hamid said the private companies have responsibility to ensure customers safety firstly and affordable price also should be their concern.
Among others, lawmakers Dr M Habibey Milliat and Mahfuzur Rahman, chairman of Youth Group Rejaqul Haider and managing director of Youth Group Feroz Alam spoke on the function.
In a reply the State Minister said his ministry would fix the price of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) through consultation with the stakeholders concerned. ‘Initiatives have been underway for keeping the price of LPG at a tolerable stage.’ he said. He said that the businessmen should operate their businesses keeping in mind of their social responsibilities. He also suggested to newly constructing high rise apartments owners to build ‘central gas plant’ adding that ‘It might be possible to supply LPG to apartments or community based households through pipeline by preserving it.’ The government has no plan to supply natural gas to households through pipeline, said the minister. According to Petromax officials, they have world class Bottling solution and have already established the LPG terminal with a capacity of 5000 MT at Mongla, Bagerhat and a satellite terminal of 1000 MT at Rupgonj, Narayangonj to ensure smooth distribution.
