DNCC fines five insttts for not using Bangla signboards

A DNCC worker is removing a signboard of a shoe outlet in Azampur area of the capital on Monday for not using Bangla-inscribed signboard.

A mobile court led by Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) on Monday fined five institutions Tk 10,000 each at Azampur area in the city for not using Bangla on their signboards.

The institutions are Shanto Mariam University, Rahimafrooz, Sea shell, Bata and Akhter Furniture.

The mobile court led by DNCC’s Executive Magistrate Khalid Ahmed conducted the drive from 11:00am to 2:30pm in Uttara area, says a press release of DNCC.

A High Court order that said Bangla is mandatory in writing nameplates, signboards, billboards and banners for all organisations  led to the raid.
