Indira Road Krira Chakra were bowled out for 31 - the lowest total in the Dhaka Women’s Premier Division Cricket League 2017-2018- as Khelaghar SKS romped to a 10-wicket victory at Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Prothisthan Ground-4 in Savar.
Ritu Moni and Renu Yadav claimed four wickets apiece for the Khelaghar. No Indira Road batsman could reach double figure. Indira batsmen indeed reflected the precedent set by earlier seasons of women’s cricket tournament in Bangladesh where such dismal have been witnessed.
Khelagar, led by Ruby Haider with 13 not out, took less than nine overs to reach the winning target without losing any wicket. Khelaghar openers comfortably went over the mark as Indira Road KC were amazed to find themselves is such a bizarre spot.
Highest contribution of Indira Road innings came from Mr. extra with the amount totalling 14 runs. Khelaghar bowlers wrapped up Indira Road in little more than an hour and a half after Khalaghar skipper won the toss and decided to bowl first.
At the same day, defending champion Rupali Bank Krira Parishad survived Kalabagan KC scare by two-runs at BKSP Ground-3.
Rupali Bank was limited inside 200 for eight in 50 overs despite a commanding 112 runs opening stand by Sanjida Islam (60) and Ayesha Islam (46) after Rupali Bank opted to bat first.
In their reply, Kalabagan were forced to stop at 198 losing seven wickets in their stipulated 50 overs.
Highest 68 runs came from skipper Lata Mondol’s willow.
Tazia Akhtar took three wickets for Rupali Bank.
Bangladesh is witnessing a surge in women empowerment in sports and Women’s cricket tournament is intended to further the cause.
