After a four-day recess, league leader Bangladesh will play Nepal in their 3rd match of the five-nation SAFF U-18 Championship at Changlimithang Stadium in Thimphu, Bhutan today, reports UNB.
The match will kick off at 7:00 pm local time.
Bangladesh U-18 team smartly dominated the regional youth soccer meet with all-win record securing full six points from straight two matches, featuring better goal difference scoring six goals against conceding three.
Coming from 0-3 goals behind, Bangladesh made a flying start beating their giant neighbour India by 4-3 goals scoring four goals in row in the 2nd half and consolidated their position further beating all-loser the Maldives by 2-0 goals in the 2nd match.
Jafar Iqbal of Bangladesh was the leading scorer in the meet scoring three goals in two matches -- two against India and one against the Maldives.
Hosts Bhutan followed Bangladesh securing six points from three matches, one match more than Bangladesh, with two wins and one defeat. They went down the race not only playing one match more than Bangladesh, but also in poor goal difference scoring two goals against conceding three.
Bhutan beat Nepal and the Maldives, both by 1-0 goal, and conceded a 0-3 defeat against India in the 3rd match.
India and Nepal were in the 3rd and 4th slot collecting three points each from two matches while the Maldives remained pointless playing three matches.
In the remaining match, Bangladesh will play hosts Bhutan on Wednesday (Sept 27) at the same venue
On completion of the league basis matches, the top team of the five-nation meet will be the champions.
