DINAJPUR: Police, in special drives from Monday night to Tuesday morning, arrested 28 persons including three activists of Jamaat-e-Islami, three drug traders and recovered 328 pieces of Yaba tablets from nine upazilas of the district, reports BSS.
Police said they were picked up from different areas of the district. BGB in a drive also recovered 22,000 pieces of cow fattening tablets from Hili Railway station.
During the drives, Dinajpur Sadar police arrested five persons, Khansama Thana police arrested three, Kaharole Thana police two, Hakimpur Thana police arrested three, Birampur police arrested three drug traders with 328 pieces of Yaba tablets, Ghoraghat police arrested three, Birganj Thana police arrested two, Parbatipur Thana police arrested two and Chirirbandar Thana police arrested five including three activists of Jamaat-e-Islami.
Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in a drive recovered 22,000 pieces of cow fattening tablets from Hili railway station in Hakimpur upazila in an abandoned condition during the period.
Several cases, including charges of subversive activities, are pending with different police stations against the arrested persons, the sources added. The arrested people were sent to jail.
