Don’t make headlines of bad news, Quader tells BCL

CHITTAGONG: Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader on Sunday said he doesn’t want to see Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) in headline of bad news.
He said this while talking to journalists after a meeting held at the residence of Chittagong City Awami League (AL) President ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury at Chashma Hill in the city.
The minister held the meeting with the party leaders, high officials of administration and police for settling the intra-party problems.

Police (CMP) Additional Commissioner (Crime and Operation) Devdas Bhattacharya, district Superintendent of Police (SP) Noor E Alam Mina, Chittagong Deputy Commissioner Md Shamsul Arefin, BCL City unit President Emran Ahmed Emu, General Secretary Nurul Azim Rony and CU unit General Secretary Fazle Rabbi Sujan were present at the meeting among others.  
After the meeting, the minister told the journalists that only two years is left for national election and they are taking all out preparation that started from Chittagong.
Asked about issues discussed at the meeting Quader, also the general secretary of ruling AL, said informal discussion was held on city AL, Chhatra League and others.
“Some BCL related problems occurred here. We discussed the matters so that those don’t take place further. We hope they (BCL men) will work together,” he said.
Regarding the repeated clashes between BCL factions at CU, he said he doesn’t want to see Chhatra League in the headline of bad news and message was conveyed to the leaders in this regard.
“As only two years is left for the election, we want to address internal problems by three months and hold council of the front organisations by six months,” said Quader.
He also warned that if indiscipline and misdeed continue in the party those will be tackled through administrative and organisational ways.
Replying to a question on death of BCL leader Diaj Irfan Chowdhury, the minister said cause of the death is not clear as the family is claiming it to be murder while autopsy report revealed it as suicide.
“The matter will be cleared after completion of investigation by the Criminal Investigation Department CID),” he said.
Quader entered the residence of Mohiuddin at around 8:30am and held the meeting for one and a-half hour. He also took breakfast there.
Sources said the minister also talked to Mohiuddin and Nasir regarding conflict among them on different issues and requested for bridging the gaps.
